The basics
What is Ola Mayor?
A football community: every player has a page, every page is made of clips, and which clips rise is decided by votes rather than by an editor. Tournaments like the World Cup are episodes in it, not what it is about.
Do you host the videos?
No. Every clip is a YouTube embed — we link and organise, YouTube hosts. That is also why a clip can vanish: if the original is deleted on YouTube, it disappears here too.
Why do I need an account?
Only for the things that change what everyone else sees: voting, commenting, adding clips, saving. Reading everything needs no account.
Taking part
How do I add a clip?
Open a player page and use + Add clip. You paste a YouTube link, pick the section it belongs in, and it goes into review. Once it is approved it appears on the page and can collect votes.
Why is my clip still pending?
Submissions are checked before they go live — that the link works, that it is the right player, that it is not a duplicate. A nightly pass handles the queue, so most things resolve within a day.
What are Olas?
Points you earn when other people upvote what you added. The Olas page explains the ladder.
Why can I only downvote comments, not clips?
A clip that nobody upvotes simply sinks — it does not need burying. A comment thread does need a way to push bad answers down, so comments carry both directions. Downvotes never subtract Olas.
Comments, photos and moderation
My comment says “pending review” — what now?
An automatic check flagged it as borderline. A pass runs nightly and either publishes it or removes it — it will not sit there forever.
Why is my profile photo not showing yet?
Photos are checked before they go public, so there is a short gap between uploading and appearing. Your previous picture stays up until the new one passes.
Someone posted something awful. What do I do?
Use Report — under the clip, or in the ⋮ menu on a comment. Enough reports hide it automatically while it is reviewed. For anything urgent or for rights issues, the copyright page has the direct route.
Can I delete my own comment?
Yes, through the ⋮ menu on your own comment. Replies underneath survive so the thread still reads, but your text is gone.
Account
How do I stop the reply emails?
Account menu → Comments & email → turn off “Email me about replies”. That one switch covers every reply notification.
Can I change my username?
Yes — account menu → Account settings. Your profile page address changes with it, so old links to it stop working.
