What we store, why we store it, and what leaves our systems. In plain words first, details underneath.
You can read everything without an account and without telling us anything. If you sign up, we store your email address and what you contribute. We run no advertising, we do not profile you, and we do not sell or share your data for anyone else's purposes. We do count page views and five actions in aggregate so we can see which parts of the site are used — cookieless, with no name, email or search term attached; see cookies & tracking.
The operator named in the imprint is the controller (Verantwortlicher) for the processing described here. Questions about your data, and any of the requests further down: hello@olamayor.com.
Under the GDPR every purpose needs a legal basis. Ours, in the order they appear below:
Nothing here rests on consent you gave by merely using the site. That is not a valid basis, and we do not claim it.
Our hosting provider logs the technical data every web server receives — IP address, time, the page requested, browser and referrer. That is needed to deliver the site and to defend it against abuse, and it is not combined with any account.
While the site is in private preview it sits behind a shared password. Passing that gate sets one cookie (om_session) that only records "this browser passed the gate".
We store your email address and password (hashed — we never see it), plus what you choose to add: username, display name, profile picture, favourite team and player, and any clips, quotes, comments, votes, saved clips and follows.
Your username, display name, profile picture, Olas and public contributions are visible to everyone. Your email address is not shown to other members.
We use your email to send you the notifications you switched on, to confirm sign-up and email changes, and to let you reset your password. You can turn reply notifications off under Settings.
You can create your account with Continue with Google instead of a password. Nothing is requested from Google until you tap it: we load no Google sign-in code on our pages, so simply visiting Ola Mayor sends Google nothing and sets no Google cookie here.
When you do tap it, you leave our site for Google's own sign-in page and Google's privacy policy applies there. If you approve, we receive your email address, whether Google has verified it, and an identifier for your Google account — that is all. Google is told which application you are signing in to.
We deliberately do not take your Google name or your Google profile picture. Your public name on Ola Mayor is a username you choose on the next screen, and your first picture is one of our own cartoon avatars. This is not an oversight: a name taken from an account you did not choose to publish here is not yours to publish, and a picture hotlinked from Google would tell Google which pages other people are looking at.
If the email address matches an account you already made with a password, the two are joined into one account rather than becoming two — and only because Google confirms the address belongs to you.
Comments, the titles of added clips and profile pictures are checked before or shortly after they appear. Text and images are sent to OpenAI's moderation service for that check — a profile picture is sent as a link that expires after five minutes. Private messages are checked only by a word filter on our own servers when they are sent. This is not used to profile you; the result is only "publish", "hold" or "reject".
Reports you file, and reports about your content, are stored so repeated problems can be recognised.
Each of these acts on our instructions under a data-processing agreement. Several are based in the United States or process data there; those transfers rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses and the providers' own transfer frameworks (Art. 44 ff. GDPR). If you would rather not have a video reach YouTube at all, do not press play — the page works without it.
Comments and profile pictures go through an automated check (described under Moderation). It decides one of three things about a piece of content: publish, hold for a person to look at, or reject. It does not score you, build a profile of you, or make any decision about you with legal consequences, so it is not automated decision-making in the sense of Art. 22 GDPR. If something of yours was held or removed and you think that is wrong, write to hello@olamayor.com and a person can overturn it — or use the feedback form if you are signed in.
Account data stays until you delete your account. Contributions stay as described under My account: your login, profile and votes go, your clips and quotes stay on the site without your name, and your comments stay in their threads marked as deleted. Server logs are kept only as long as needed to run and protect the site.
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you (Art. 15), correct it (Art. 16), delete it (Art. 17), restrict what we do with it (Art. 18), or hand it over in a portable form (Art. 20). You can object to the processing we base on our legitimate interest (Art. 21), and withdraw consent for emails at any time (Art. 7(3)) — under Settings or via the unsubscribe link in any of them.
Write to hello@olamayor.com; we answer within a month. You can also delete your account yourself under My account, and that route needs no request and no waiting.
None of this costs you anything, and using it is not held against you. If you think we handled your data wrongly you can complain to a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77) — in the EU, the one where you live, work, or where you believe the problem happened.
Nothing, to read. There is no account wall. To have an account we need an email address, because it is the only way to confirm you exist, let you back in when you forget your password, and tell you when someone replies to you. Everything else on your profile is optional and you can leave it empty.
The full list is on the cookies & tracking page. Short version: a handful of entries in your browser's local storage for your session, language, theme and saved clips — no advertising or analytics cookies at all.
This is how other members will see you on every clip you add. You can fill in the rest whenever you like.
Yes — Ola Mayor uses cookies and local storage. Here is every one of them, and what it is for.
A cookie, set by us. om_session — remembers that you passed the preview password so you are not asked on every page. Set for 30 days, and readable only by the server (HttpOnly).
Local storage, set by us. Kept on your device and never sent anywhere: your sign-in (om_auth), saved clips (om_saves), players you follow (om_follows), language (om_lang), display mode (om_theme), your preferences (om_prefs), and an anonymous key so a report is not counted twice (om_anon).
Third party, and only if you tap it. A post from X shows as a still image. Tapping it loads X's own player — so the video plays here and the creator is credited with the view — and X then sets its own cookies, which we do not control. Do not tap it and nothing is ever requested from X. YouTube clips use youtube-nocookie.com and load only when you press play.
What we do not do: advertising cookies, cross-site tracking, or selling your data. To clear everything we store, clear this site's data in your browser.
